Moving Ghana Forward

My Africa /

It has been many years since I last visited Ghana. I have heard from several friends and family that life is good in Ghana and that the country is now developed, etc, etc.

Now my question is, is it really true that Ghana is now developed and life is really good as I've been hearing? Does this so called development applies to all the remote parts of the country or do these folks just talk about Accra, Kumasi, Tema, and other bigger cities when refering to Ghana being developed?

Any answer for me?

Perspective

Visit and see first hand. Just to be fair/honest, you might be a little disappointed as far as how widespread the "development" has been, but I think the issue here is asking the right questions. At the end of the day, "development" or positive change, if you will, is measured by how far you come from a previous and otherwise worse state, rather than an arbitrary set point/destination (as you suggest by asking if the "development" has reached remote areas). It's a journey, and you need to measure the difference, as opposed to the closest you can get to a subjective end point. Granted, we all know the latter ("development" in the "remotest" areas) is the ideal, but let's give honor where it's due. I might sound like I'm responding in the affirmative, but I'm not, and that's because I bring into question another key issue/aspect of the whole conversation--POTENTIAL. I believe Ghana has had (and still has) the potential to develop a lot more than [she] has. That's where my smile disappears--I'm actually disappointed.

Thank you!

That's really true. I guess I just have to visit and see things for myself.

Girl, all i can tell you is

Girl, all i can tell you is that whoever said that might have visited another Ghana, certainly not the one we live in...maybe there is a parallel Ghana somewhere and somehow, the fellow got lucky and landed there.

On the contrary, things are getting bad by the minute!!! the country is engulfed in filth. The road networks are terrible and service delivery is...i better hold my mouth...Just Come down for a week or two, you will be gone by midweek.
